Supporting Your Child’s Health Journey
Child health nurses are specially trained in caring for children and families. They’re here to offer free health and development checks at important stages of your child’s growth.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your nurse will gently check how your child is growing and developing. It’s a relaxed, supportive space to talk about anything to do with your child’s health.

You can also chat with your nurse about:

  • Parenting tips, healthy routines, and general wellbeing
  • Immunisation info—when and where to get your child’s free vaccinations (in metropolitan areas)
  • Connections to other helpful health services, both in hospitals and the community

These appointments are a great chance to check in on your child’s progress and ask any questions you might have—big or small.

Best of all, everything is free.
And if you’d like to speak in another language, just ask for a free telephone interpreter.
