ABOUT THE MEETUP
The Roleystone Family Centre is pleased to host a weekly Mahjong Club, playing Hong Kong–style Mahjong in a friendly, supportive, and relaxed setting.
This group is particularly welcoming for beginners. Sessions will begin by clearly showing the steps to play, including an introduction to the tiles, rules, and basic gameplay. New players can learn at a comfortable pace, ask questions, and build confidence in a supportive environment. No prior experience is required.
Mahjong is a traditional tile‑based game enjoyed around the world for its blend of strategy, skill, and social connection. Played in small groups, the game encourages conversation, shared learning, and friendly interaction, making it a great way to connect with others in the community.
Participation offers many benefits:
- Ideal for beginners – Step‑by‑step guidance is provided at the start of sessions.
- Strong social connection – The game supports conversation, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
- Mentally stimulating – Encourages concentration, memory, and problem‑solving.
- Inclusive and welcoming – Players of all experience levels are supported to participate.
- Relaxed and enjoyable – Sessions balance learning, play, and social interaction.
The Mahjong Club is wheelchair friendly, and the space is set up to support accessibility. Carers are welcome to attend to assist participants and may do so at no cost.
Tea and coffee facilities are available. Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks.
The group is suitable for complete beginners through to experienced players, and all are welcome to attend.
